Eni has commenced production from the Kitan oil field offshore Australia. The field is being produced through deepwater subsea completion wells connecting to an FPSO, and it is expected to reach a maximum production rate of about 40,000 bopd.
The operator stated that the development followed a fast-track planfrom discovery to production while meeting FID targets, and then commencing production within three-and-half-years from the declaration of commercial discovery.
The Kitan field is situated approximately 100 miles (161 kilometers) off the East Timor coast and 300 miles (483 kilometers) off the Australian coast, and is located in around 1,000 feet (305 meters) of water. Eni operates Kitan with a 40% interest while INPEX Timor Sea holds 35%, and Talisman Resources holds the remaining 25% interest.
