Dili, Aug 26 (Reuters) - The Special Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations for Timor-Leste, Atul Khare Lusa said today that "there are certain crimes that should not be underestimated, as crimes against humanity and war crimes.
Atul Khare commented in a statement to Lusa the idea of a general amnesty for crimes committed between 1975 and 1999, suggested by President Ramos-Horta.

Díli, 26 Ago(Lusa) - O representante especial do Secretário Geral das Nações Unidas para Timor-Leste, Atul Khare disse hoje à Lusa que "há certos crimes que não devem ser subestimados, como os crimes contra a humanidade e os crimes de guerra".
Atul Khare comentava, em declarações à Lusa a ideia de uma amnistia geral para os crimes praticados entre 1975 e 1999, sugerida pelo Presidente da República, Ramos-Horta.
"É um poder de qualquer Presidente no mundo fazer recomendações sobre sentenças", frisou.
